Tues, 22 March 2016, 7:48 am (Europe time): Some people make a big deal out of what they can or can’t see through their hotel room windows. A spectacular view is a cushy plus, to be sure, but how important is it really? Let me tell you what’s far more important.
Matt’s best tip for navigating Amsterdam
Tues, 22 March 2016, 2:15 pm (Europe time): I won’t be giving away my hard-earned specific travel tips frequently on this site. Photos, anecdotes, common knowledge stuff you could find easily with Google… sure. But the serious advice is worth paying for, because I bought it with my time, my energy, my focus. When you retain my services as travel consultant or tour guide, you’ll have full access to everything in my mental and digital archives.
This is a freebie, and it’s a big one.
standing smack in the middle
Thurs, 17 March 2016, 2:22 pm (Europe time): There are no unpleasant Dutch people. That’s the impression I’ve got after 28 hours here in Rotterdam. It jibes with what I remember from my four days in Amsterdam last summer. Everybody in The Netherlands is so nice. I can stand smack in the middle of one of their busiest town squares, in full wannabe tv host regalia, and they either give me the most polite wide berth you’ve ever seen or they make their intrusions into my shots as unobtrusive as possible.
Notice, whenever somebody passes by and peers nosily into my camera or gives me the stink eye from a slight distance, it’s never a Dutch person.
