Every other time I just kept on
walking, but this time…

2 July 2015, 11:00 am: From my perennial hotel in Prague, the most direct route to Old Town Square takes you past the Grand Hotel Bohemia. I rarely walk by without taking a quick peek through its fancy windows at its fancy lobby and its fancy rear bar and its fancy reception staff.

This was the first time I actually stepped inside to snap a few photos. Is it a coincidence that my sudden desire to document these alternative accommodations arose during the visit when MY hotel made me angry for the first time ever?  I’ll answer that for you. No. No, it’s not a coincidence. I am open to staying somewhere different in Prague on my next visit.

At a glance this place looks too staid to be a Matt joint, but you just know there’s mega-high quality booze on hand, and I could be about some cold cucumber soup. Grand Hotel Bohemia, I am ready for you to try to seduce me.

“A Streetcar Named… Na Porici?”

2 July 2015, 10:54 am: Exiting our hotel and turning right onto Na Porici, we walk past one of Prague’s 931 streetcars. These trams, powered by electricity through overhead wiring, rumble and rattle over 89 miles of track throughout the Czech capital. The third photo has a tram rounding the bend at the end of Na Porici near Namesti Republiky.
