Matt’s home base in London

Tues, 8 March 2016, 11:55 am: Madder than the Hatter is the price of a proper hotel room in London. If a comfortable and quiet night’s sleep is going to set you back a towering stack of the Queen’s shillings no matter what, you might as well spend that money at a place that’s going to make you happy.

Based on my debut run at the Mad Hatter in July 2014, I know going into this new epic journey that the hotel in general makes me happy. But how happy am I going to be with this particular room assignment compared with the first one?

Is the bed markedly bigger? Do I have the same street view as last time? And yes, the pub is still right downstairs, but has management installed a Fuller’s Honey Dew beer tap in my actual room? Or did I fill out that comment card for nothing?

I’ve just walked the four minutes from Blackfriars railway bridge, been received at the Hatter’s front desk, taken the lift from reception, and entered room 206. Let’s have a look, shall we?
